Cover the Field: Once you are in first place, tack and cover the field. Don’t give the fleet “leverage”, if something changes you will lose your advantage.
Don’t Pinch for the Line: When you see the line, keep sailing fast. Don’t pinch up to try and make it on your current tack. It’s one thing to shoot the last boat length, another to try and start pinching halfway up the final beat. First and second lost to the third place boat due to pinching on the final beat.
Watch the finish of Race #1 on the trimmed sailpro track below. Diablo leads around the leeward mark followed by Cumulus. They both pinch up within five boat lengths of the line and come to a complete stop. Evyinder keeps their speed up and passes them both. Cumulus then recovers and passes Diablo. Don’t pinch!
