Sunday Night Races 4/21

It was a crazy night out on the Severn River, but Duffy managed to get 5 races off. The breeze flipped 90 degrees between the second and third races turning the windward leeward course into a reach reach course.
The correct approach once the breeze shifted was to run the line on Starboard and then jibe at the starting signal with clear air and speed. That was a little more aggressive than the fleet was ready for as calls of “Starboard” went unheeded by the fleet. The boats that hit the line on time with speed really did well.
The windward mark became critical as boats got pinwheeled around the outside – going from 2nd to 6th in a single rounding. Getting inside was key.
Mistral won the day by being consistent and avoiding any poor finishes!

Mistral: 3,2,1,5,4 = 15

Sharqi: 1,1,7,4,3 = 16
